David's young wife keeps making etiquette errors when they are in polite company. She tries hard, but it is so difficult to keep track of all the rules. Disappointed in her, David believes in domestic discipline to correct behaviour and set guidelines and expectations in a marriage. And he subjects his wife to just such discipline following her mistakes at a social dinner.
